Friday-Ad car selling tips

You are selling your car! There are a few selling tips you should consider to help you prepare when selling your car, make sure you get the right price for your car, get the best response from your ad and close a deal that both you and the new owner are happy with.

Selling a car preparation:
As much as you want to spend as little on your car as possible before selling a car, there are a few things you should check to make sure everything is running as it should.
  • Check the oil - This will be a huge difference when the buyer decides to look under the bonnet.
  • Lights - make sure they all work and replace if necessary.
  • Check tyres - You can put air pressure in your tyres for free at most petrol stations.
  • Check your brake fluid, windscreen washer and coolant level.

What does the outside look like?
Don’t forget when selling a car the potential buyers first impression will stem from what the car looks like from the outside, so you should spend as much time as possible making your car look as shiny as possible.

  • Clean the ‘whole car‘ - Don’t miss the places you normally avoid such as arches and inner door panels.
  • T-Cut is great for covering up small scratches.
  • Pay more attention than normal to your wheels.
  • Make an extra effect by waxing or polishing the car.

How does the inside of the car look?
A major selling tip is not to forget the inside of the car. The inside of the car is where the new owner will be spending most of their time, they will want to feel comfortable therefore they will be paying most attentions to this when they are inspecting the car.

  • Clean all dashboards, plastic and wooden trims.
  • Clean all mirror and glass (windows do get dirty on the inside!)
  • Empty everything out of the car before the buyer arrives (you don’t want them to think your CD’s are included)
  • Use an air-freshener or fabric freshener.

How much is your car worth?
Working out a car value is never easy and less so when you want to get rid of it in a hurry. The easiest way to is to look around at other adverts selling a car and see by how much your make, model, age may affect the value.

By setting the price too high the interest you receive from buyers maybe poor, however setting it too low will mean you could miss out on making the most out of your car sale.
